SEFTA Rolling 16 (Winter League)
Posted: Sun Nov 24, 2019 8:51 pm
I’ve copied this over from the old forum, this was the post provided by Simon Evans to determine a more even spread of grades for the regional winter leagues, working on the split of 15% A, 35% A, 35% B and 15% C. This will revert to BFTA grading for the GP series.
For the many that don't use Facebook.
Just so everyone is clear what this means, there is no BFTA winter grading, Simon has produced regional grading and this is only for regions that don’t have their own local winter grading system. You will see big differences, for example in CSFTA a shooter with an average of 88% will find themselves in “A”, whereas in SEFTA an average of 83% will get you into “AA”. This is because the same % split of available shooters with a BFTA card in each region determines the number of shooters in each grade and not a fixed point,
Simon explains this as follows;
Bit of a change for this winters REGIONAL Grades
Firstly, as Wafta, Swefta, Mfta and Nwfta use their own or modified grading system, anything I as Bfta grading officer set over the winter is really null and void.
So for winter 2019/20, I have set individual grade boundaries for each region, with the exception of Sarpa due to its low shooter count and there is no winter or summer league sadly in Scotland at present.
Thus you may find A grade in "your" Region is different to A grade in the region next to you? That's due to different amounts of competitive shooters in each region
I have used the 15 % / 35%/ 35 % 15% as a rough basis to balance the classes for winter, discounting Ungraded shooters.
Wafta, swefta, Mfta and I believe Nwefta will use their own, but I have set them anyway as guide?
Nefta, sefta, FFTa and Csfta are free to change the boundaries if the "Region" sees fit.
It will make no difference the the BFTa come the summer, what grade a shooter has competed in over Winter.
